Okra

Their shape alone is reminiscent of a truly exotic vegetable. Okra looks like a cross between a courgette and a chili (green), about 5-10 centimetres long with vertical ribbed stripes.
They are seeded pods sourced from a tropical herb.
With its slightly savoury flavour, okra is no different from green beans. When you cooked them longer, the texture becomes a little mucous. They are also great for thickening soups and other dishes.

AVAILABILITY: Year-round.
STORAGE: Recommended around 6° C.
